I admire you so much for all the love you devote to the
birds. They are very lucky to have found wonderful people like
you. I go to your website about twice a week and am glad to hear
that Sulpher is doing better. I have a cockatiel and I have to
say that he is the best gift I've evr got. I just adore him and
can't ever imagine not having him. What people have done to
their birds breaks my heart but knowing they have found
wonderful new owners like you and knowing they are now safe from
harm is reassuring. Keep up the good work. You are truly admired
by bird lovers every where. |

I visit this site quite often. I worry about each and every
bird I have read about here, and am always glad when there is an
update. However I have been looking for the story on Colombus
Avery, I am very interested in learning what happened in his
life. God bless each and everyone of you . |

We have a pair of Green Napied Rainbow Lories now that at
first we thought were young, they wern't though. As best we can
figure out they are about 7 or 8 not that this is very old for
them.At first my wife didn't want to be around when they(Fred
and Barnie)were out as they would bite very hard to the point of
drawing blood. We have had them just over 4 years now and
everyone can see the change in them.Yes they do still bite but
now its alot more play than anything. Both birds had a real
problem with trusting anybody, you could tell that they wanted to
be out and with you but were not sure how to act.We love these
birds alot and did alot of research before we got them, you have
to know just what you are getting into when you get any animal
bird or other. One of the last homes they had before we got them
was a small windowless room that was kept dark so they would be
quite. They are now out in the liveingroom. |

with them. They are so beautiful. I just got a chance to look at
your web site to find out a little about you. It is fantastic
and I will tell all my friends about you and your work. Thank
you for doing what you do to help these birds. Here they are not
seen that much anymore. We will be back again next summer to

Keep up the good work! Most people do not realise that a
parrot is a life-long responsibility when they buy one,as they
have such a long life span! Perhaps Dealers should be forced to
ensure that clients are aware of this before any sale is
concluded! |

Wow. What awful, heartbreaking stories. I hate the fact that
these creatures are being destroyed and driven to extinction
because PEOPLE are too ignorant and self-centered to realize it.
At the same time, I'm SO GLAD that there are people out there
like you who do the hard working of rescuing. And more than
that, the work of EDUCATING those who really have no idea what
they're doing. Bravo. |

Found your site and I think it's great! Thanks for all your
efforts in helping these magnificent animals and teaching people
about them in your out reach programs. I have a Blue and Gold
Macaw "Sammy" and I was able to purchase him from a lady who did
not really have time for him and not the funds to properly care
for him. Sammy is 30 something yrs. old and is a bit challenging
because he doesn't want to be touched and is very cage
territorial. I keep working with him though and he will step up
onto a stick for me to come out of his cage. He will always have
a good home with me and have lots of chew toys, good diet of
fruit, veggies, pellets, seeds, and lots of attention! I
purchased a full spectrum light which is attached to the outside
of Sammy's cage and this helped him to stop plucking and over
preening. Thanks again for the great work the Avery Family does
for these awesome creatures we humans call parrots! |

I appreciate what ya'll are doing! I believe that the
general public is not aware of the daily necessities that birds
require. I own a cockatiel that I love and treasure, but he is
not like owning a dog or cat. Your web site is a wonderful way
to inform people about birds and how they should think twice
before buying one. The individual bird stories are, for the most
part, sad. The abuse that they had to endure before they got a
decent home is sickening. I enjoyed reading their stories and
hope that they will all live happily ever after. |

Thank you for the wonderful work that you do on behalf of
our feathered friends. The stories about your birds are both
motivating and tear jerking. I have a Moluccan Cockatoo named
Kramer who is 48 years old. I have had him for 2 years now. He
is a plucker, but doing much better. He no longer chases my
husband down the hall or holds us captive on our couch. Thank
you for your stories. They give me hope and patience to help
Kramer along his path of recovery. I love him dearly. |

best bird. I don't know what I would do with out her. I want to
take the opportunity to thank you for the work that you are
doing for those birds that are less fortunate than mine. I am so
glad to know that there are people like you trying your best to

Just a quick note to thank the PPP for the work that they
do. I am a personal friend of Marietta & Gene, and I know first
hand how hard they work to provide these wonderful parrots with
a loving home. I can not express how dedicated this family is,
and I have to say that I have never seen in action the
expression "Labor of Love" the way that the PPP cares for these
parrot. Each parrot is provided with an enriched environment &
receives personal attention on a daily basis. Also, most of
these parrots have never received the unconditional love, care,
and socialization practices, that the PPP provides to them.
Moreover, these misplaced parrots know that they are finally in
a home to stay. Thank you Marietta, Gene & family, for saving
these beautiful lives. |

It sure is sad on what some of these birds had to go
through. Those birds are LUCKY to have a home with your family.
I'm almost 23 and have had birds since I was almost 14 with a
pair of parakeets being my first, then got a lutino tiel, then
got a green cheek conure, a Red Throated Conure, a Patagonian
conure, and last a parakeet that are a year old. No, I don't
have all the birds listed here. The green cheek that I got lived
for seven mos. after I got him while I was in high school during
my senior year. My dad and I drove down to Dallas, Texas from AR
where we were living at the time. He was one of the best pets I
ever had. I was on vacation and got the Red Throat the day
before when mom got a phone call from dad saying that KC, my
green cheek was dead. I was deeply upset and in shock. His body
was sent in, but they never found out why he did. Even after
almost four years later, I still miss him and you bet he'd be
living in the dorm with me since he was a quiet bird. Gator, the
red throated conure that I got from somone I knew who raised her
and her brother since they were seven weeks, was there for me
when I needed after KC died and we became close. She was a good
bird, but had a mind of her own. She loved traveling and even
went to NY |

I'm happy to see that someone is giveing these wonderful
birds a new start on life.It bothers me that so many times birds
are put away because they can be very noisey,or because they
tend to bite.We have 2 Green Naped Lorries and at this point 15
Cockitiel and one Budgie at home.We know what noise is on a
sunny day .Like your site a lot, keep up the good work. |

I too, have double yellowhead Amazon parrot. I dont know how
old the bird is .I found in a petstore in a cage half the size
of what it should be with it tucked into a corner of the store
with its price marked down twice. As I walked by it stared at me
and I couldn't help but stop, after a small conversation with it
I started walking away and it screamed!! I knew then and there
it must come home with me. It doesn't really talk that much and
it had sinusitis which I cured with the proper feed. Its name is
Sundance and it loves me and my daughter especially. As a matter
of fact one day when my husband was disiciplining my daugher the
bird reached out through the cage and grabbed his shirt and went
to bite him!! It is definitely is very protective of my
daughter! It doesn't come out of the cage too much and is
aggressive biter but I still love Sundance. I figured out why it
was named this, because its head looks like the sun and it
dances up and down the bar when we play music!!! I found this
really nice vet who does its nails too. I bought him a Kings
Cage with lots of space! My daughter says she will take care of
it after I am gone. I am glad to know you exist though in case
she changes her mind. |
